Vigno is a group of old vine producers in the Maule Valley in Southern Chile [small, medium, and large] that came together in 2011 to form a D.O.C.-like collective to revive old-vine Carignan vineyards in the Maule. The guild was established to apply a collaborative approach to raise interest in the unique qualities of the wines grown in the region. Over more than a decade it has helped changed perceptions of Chilean wine and sold thousands of cases of fine wine in markets around the world. Vigno was founded by winemakers and winemakers continue to do the majority of the heavy lifting to this day.

Elevating Chilean Old Vine Carignan: VIGNO at 10 Years
In 2011, searching for a way to persuade their own country—and the wider world—that there was more to Chile than inexpensive Sauvignon Blanc and increasingly costly Bordeaux-style blends, a group of winemakers banded together to champion a long-neglected grape uniquely suited to the country’s climate. These winemakers called themselves VIGNO, and they changed the way many people around the world thought about Chilean wine.
Vigno has redefined old-vine viticulture in Chile by producing wines recognised for character and identity.
