This wine, without a name or surname, has transformed into a brand, into a symbol.
“It has an impressive color and a wonderful pH of 3.2 after malolactic fermentation. Its youth seems almost eternal. It offers aromas of sour or wild cherries and liqueur truffles. With aging, notes of molasses and boldo emerge. It is a chivalrous knight clad in iron armor. Strong-willed. When it enters the mouth, it displays a bold presence, marked by a beautiful concentration of tannins. It’s a rough, rustic character—no courtly noble.”

The Rules
VIGNO has a set of rules was established that has evolved over the years and is strictly followed by its members and certified by third party:
– the variety must be Carignan / Cariñena (min 85%)
– the vines must be at least 30 years old (most are 75+)
– dry-farmed (without irrigation)
– old bush head vines / head-trained, Gobelet

– aged for a minimum of 24 months (fudres, barrels, cement, amphorae and/or bottles depending on the style of each winery)
note: the remaining 15% maybe any other variety that complies with the above criteria
The good intentions and wines have developed in parallel with scientific support from various studies and research papers conducted by the University of Chile and the CCV of the University of Talca responsible for certifying the vineyards according to the criteria established by the guild.
Science and certification has been crucial.
