Family Wines
BODEGAS RE is a small family winery, born from a long and rich winemaking journey led by Pablo Morandé and his children, with a philosophy deeply rooted in people, history, customs, traditions, and gastronomy. Its story is both ancient and recent.
Ancient, because Pablo is the ninth generation of the first Morandé to plant vineyards in Peñaflor—producing wines and spirits in earthenware jars—and the fifth generation of the Lavín and Urrutia families, who owned vast vineyards in Maule’s Cauquenes region. That heritage profoundly shaped his way of thinking and dreaming about wine.
Then came the discovery of Casablanca, and being a pioneer in creating wines of modernity and elegance. These milestones laid the foundation for the creation of RE wines, where history becomes the soul of modernity.
And recent, because the decision to produce wines as a family—alongside his children Macarena, Piedad, and Pablo, all professionals in viticulture and enology—only began with the 2008 vintage, a journey that led to the birth of BODEGAS RE.
BODEGAS RE preserves the family’s ancestral tinajas from Maule and uses them partially in winemaking, proving that excellence can be achieved through age-old techniques enriched by modern knowledge. The winery also designed, engineered, and RE-created the traditional clay vessels, transforming them into giant amphorae with a unique character—unmatched in quality and beauty.
Thus, the wines of our ancestors are RE-born, the craftsmanship of artisans is RE-vived, imagined wines are RE-created, dreamed wines are RE-invented, and the beauty within RE wines is RE-vealed.

Tasting Notes & Winemaking
A wine crafted entirely from old-vine Carignan, VIGNO shines with a brilliant cherry-red and ruby hue—luminous and vibrant in the glass. The nose opens with aromas of sour cherries and wild roses, mingling with forest berries, toasted chestnuts and hazelnuts, and a gentle spice note of vanilla. A delicate, enchanting perfume of blue flowers, especially violets, adds elegance.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with fresh acidity, delivering a lively, energetic mouthfeel. It offers great character, structure, and a long, elegant finish. It is a wine that leaves a lasting impression—easy to remember, evocative of the warm summers of the Maule countryside.
With its firm tannic backbone, balanced acidity, and the natural sweetness of Carignan, this wine has excellent aging potential. It is best enjoyed with traditional Maule cuisine: red meats, especially lamb, wild game such as hare, wild rabbit, duck, and partridge, and rustic poultry dishes. It also pairs beautifully with pork preparations—particularly local specialties like arrollado campesino, chorizo, and blood sausage—and is a perfect companion to Mediterranean cuisine featuring hearty legumes and stewed vegetables.
Vineyard of Origin: Viña Roja – Loncomilla, Maule
The grapes come from Viña Roja de Loncomilla, nestled in the undulating hills of the Maule Coastal Range. The vineyard sits on red clay soils formed from the weathering of granite—low in fertility due to centuries of erosion. Grown under dry-farming conditions, the vines naturally balance winter rainfall with the summer’s limited water availability, producing low yields of concentrated fruit.
The vines are more than 60 years old, goblet-trained as small bush vines, with no trellising. This traditional method creates a natural canopy that protects the grapes from the intense summer sun. The vineyard is considered a living relic of Chilean viticultural heritage—a true treasure.

Sustainable by Nature
Firm in their commitment to energy sustainability, BODEGAS RE designed and built its winery with the deliberate intention of harnessing the Earth’s natural energy.
This approach means that the building—and its wine fermentation and aging processes—does not rely on costly or polluting climate control systems, but instead uses the consistent thermal energy of the soil.
We are proud to have achieved low-temperature fermentations naturally, enabling the production of exceptional wines while protecting the environment.
